Questions for Reflection:

  1. Ice Breaker:  What’s a lie someone told you that you believed for way too long? (e.g. Santa Claus, nose grows when you lie)
  2. What are some examples of “relative truth” that we encounter in our culture today?
  3. Are there things that are objectively true?  What are some examples of things that are objectively true, even if they aren’t spiritual matters?
  4. Which “primary” issue do you see people object to most often?  (For reference on “primary issues”, look at our statement of faith.)
  5. Can you think of any “secondary issues” where two earnest Christians could reasonably disagree?
  6. What is the best way for Christians to handle important “secondary issues” among the people of the church?  Does that change when dealing with non-Christians?
  7. Related Scripture Reading: Mark 9:39-50.  Pray through this passage of Scripture, asking God to show you how to apply it in your own life.
