Core Values

These values are an integral part of the culture of Hutchinson Evangelical Free Church. They describe who we are and how we relate to one another. These values work with our statement of faith to describe the kind of community we strive to be.

Jesus First

We believe everything we do should point to Jesus. He is the one who has redeemed us and saved us. He’s the one who gives us our hope and our identity. Therefore, our first priority is to help people form and strengthen their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Prayer Dependent

Prayer is a wonderful way to talk with God, to worship him, and to grow closer to him. We know that God listens to the prayers of his people, and we believe that prayer is a fundamental part of any ministry.

Gracious Authenticity

We know that we aren’t perfect, but we desire to be real. Everybody makes mistakes, but we aim to show compassion and patience with one another. We strive to make all people feel supported and encouraged as they wrestle with the rigors of life, and we believe genuine relationships will help us draw closer to each other and to Christ.

Continuous Curiosity

It’s okay to ask questions. A healthy curiosity opens the door for us to pursue a better understanding of God and each other. We recognize that sometimes we need to find answers outside of ourselves, and we thank God for his Scriptures and his people to help us.

Active Faith

Everyone has room to grow. We believe our faith is a lifelong process, and the shape of that process looks different for each person. Jesus asks his people to follow him, and we urge each person to continue on in that faithful process, one step at a time.
